Insurance

Pick a kind of insurance to see what to look at besides the price.

We do not compare prices or recommend anything yet.

Kinds of insurance

  • Małe białe auto z niebieską tarczą na drzwiach i pomarańczowy pachołek

    Motor third-party liability

Required for every car on the road. Pays for damage you cause to others.

    What to compare

    • Payout limits
    • Assistance
    • Windscreen
    • Bonus transfer
    More

Third-party liability pays for damage your car causes to other people, to their health and their property. Offers differ mainly in payout limits, assistance and add-ons; the price alone says little.

What a calculator will ask: Registration plate or VIN, engine power and size, the keeper's date of birth and postcode, years without a claim.

Watch out for: The cheapest offer often has the lowest limits and no assistance.

  • A white car with a dented bumper, an orange wrench and a blue toolbox

    Comprehensive motor

Optional. Pays for damage to your own car.

    What to compare

    • Deductible
    • Territory
    • Replacement car
    • Car valuation
    More

Comprehensive cover pays to repair or replace your own car after a crash, theft, a natural event or vandalism. Compare the deductible, where the cover applies, whether you get a replacement car and how the car's value is set after a total loss.

What a calculator will ask: Registration plate or VIN, the car's price and age, security, where it is parked.

Watch out for: A high deductible lowers the price, but you pay small damage yourself.

  • Pomarańczowa walizka, niebieski dokument podróży i mały biały samolot

    Travel insurance

Medical care abroad, trip cancellation, luggage and liability.

    What to compare

    • Medical costs
    • Sports
    • Trip cancellation
    • Luggage
    More

Travel insurance mainly pays for medical care abroad that your health insurer does not cover. Check the limit for medical costs, whether the sports you plan are covered, and whether you need trip cancellation.

What a calculator will ask: Where and when you travel, the travellers' ages, the sports you plan.

Watch out for: A low medical limit outside Europe; risky sports are often excluded unless added.

  • Pokój jak w domku dla lalek: niebieska sofa z pomarańczową poduszką i pomarańczowa lampa

    Home contents

Things in your flat or house: theft, water, fire, damage to neighbours.

    What to compare

    • Sum insured
    • New value
    • Theft
    • Liability
    More

Home contents insurance covers the things inside your flat or house. What matters is a sum insured that matches the real value of your things, payout at new value and personal liability cover.

What a calculator will ask: Postcode, floor area or sum insured, whether you own or rent.

Watch out for: Underinsurance: a sum insured below the real value cuts every payout in proportion.

  • A small white house with a blue roof under a large orange umbrella

    Property insurance

The building itself: house, flat as a unit, garage, fence.

    What to compare

    • Building value
    • Flood
    • Outbuildings
    • Owner's liability
    More

Property insurance covers the building, not its contents. Check that the sum insured matches what it would cost to rebuild the house today, and that the policy covers flood and outbuildings.

What a calculator will ask: Address, type and floor area of the building, year built, materials, security.

Watch out for: In a flood zone an insurer may exclude or limit flood cover.

  • Partner: being selected among registered intermediaries
  • Registration: the partner's number in the national bank's register will be shown here
  • Commission: Fordeal may earn a commission from the partner; it never changes any order
Why we do not compare prices yet

A site that compares insurance prices and lets you buy through it distributes insurance, which needs registration with the national bank. Fordeal will only link to the calculator of a registered partner.

The order will never follow a commission, and every partner link will name the partner and say that we may earn one.

Comparing insurance prices with a way to arrange the policy is insurance distribution under EU law (the Insurance Distribution Directive). It needs registration with the national bank, and Fordeal is not registered.

So we keep to what the law leaves open: general information about insurance, and a plain link to a registered partner. The partner's calculator shows the prices, the partner arranges the policy and carries the duties of an intermediary.

Before we start, a lawyer checks the service. If it turns out that even this needs registration, we will register or not launch.

Insurance is a regulated financial service. Comparing it needs a check of the legal form of the service and of the calculation by people who do this for a living.

Until then we would rather show nothing than a ranking that looks finished but is not.

Read the terms of each insurer directly. Before you arrange a policy through anyone, check them in the register of regulated intermediaries.
