We are still building Fordeal. You can look around and try everything; the first verified providers are joining now, so some parts are still a preview.

Buying in Poland, Germany or Austria: what to know

Cheaper abroad is often real. Here is what changes when the seller sits across the border, and what does not.

Your rights are the same

EU consumer law applies to every EU shop selling to you: a two-year legal guarantee on new goods, and the shop is responsible for a defect that shows within the first year without you proving anything.

The seller's country decides which court and which authority you can turn to, but the rights themselves do not shrink.

Returns within 14 days

You may withdraw from a distance purchase within 14 days of delivery without giving a reason. The shop refunds the price and the standard shipping; the return postage is usually yours.

Claims

A claim goes to the seller, in the seller's country, usually by post. Count the return postage into the price of a cheap deal on a heavy item. Many large shops have a service partner in your country; the shop's terms say so.

Shipping and delivery time

Fordeal adds the shop's shipping to your country to every foreign price, so the total you see is the total you pay. Delivery from Poland or Germany takes two to five working days as a rule.

Language

Support answers in the shop's language and usually in English. Fordeal shows the languages next to every cross-border offer. A claim written in English is fine everywhere in the EU.

VAT and customs

Inside the EU the price you see is final: VAT is included, there are no customs. Outside the EU (for example the UK or Switzerland) customs and VAT are added on delivery; Fordeal does not compare such shops.

Risky shops

Every shop is checked against the ČOI and SOI lists of risky e-shops; a listed shop is never shown. A shop without any customer rating is shown with a warning and never recommended first.

Before you pay

  • The card shows the total with shipping and the ČNB rate of the day.
  • The shop has a rating or a verified badge, not just a low price.
  • You know where a claim goes and what the return postage costs.
  • Pay by card; a card payment can be disputed with your bank.
